Emmy winner and two-time Oscar nominee Woody Harrelson will direct the New York premiere of Bullet for Adolf, a play he co-wrote with Frankie Hyman, according to The New York Times. The play, which received its world premiere in Toronto, will run at off-Broadway's New World Stages July 19 through September 9. Opening night is set for August 8.
During the summer of 1983, in the sweltering heat of Houston, an unlikely friendship is formed when a couple of mid-western rubes with uncertain futures meet up with a slick New Yorker on the run from his past. The disappearance of a WWII artifact sets off a chain of events that proves that nothing changes the present like a blast from the past. The play features two characters based on Harrelson and Hyman, as well as other people they knew, though the events depicted are fiction and the names have been changed to protect the not-so-innocent.
The off-Broadway cast will feature Marsha Stephanie Blake (The Merchant of Venice, Hurt Village), Shamika Cotton (TV's The Wire), Nick Wyman (Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables), Lee Osorio, Brandon Coffey, David Coomber, Shannon Garland and Tyler Jacob Rollinson..
